The Institute is based in the science quarter at the heart of the university campus and is part of the School of Life Sciences incorporating the Tom Connors Cancer Research Centre.
Our research encompasses the development of new cancer medicines from concept to clinic. The emphasis of the programme is on drug target interrogation in clinical samples and development of relevant in vitro and in vivo models for lead compound selection and progression. Research covers the three broad stages of cancer medicines development: discovery, pre-clinical evaluation and clinical application.
We also contribute GCLP PKPD support to the Leeds-Bradford Experimental Cancer Medicines Centre.
Researchers within the Institute were ranked in the top 10% best in the UK in the Allied Health Professions and Studies sector to which 70 universities submitted work (source: 'power rating' by Research Fortnight).
